Why Palm Springs
One mid-century house with a pool, and nobody leaves it for three days.
The short version of what it is good for: spa & slow, beach & sun, outdoors. If none of those is what the group wants, the honest answer is to pick somewhere else — a city cannot be talked into a vibe it does not have.
Things to do
Rent a mid-century house with a pool.
Poolside private chef dinner.

Spa and hot springs in Desert Hot Springs.
Vintage shopping on Palm Canyon Drive.
Where to eat
A private chef at the house, once
Brunch on Palm Canyon Drive
Tacos in the evening, poolside
Where to stay
A mid-century house with a pool — this is the whole trip
A boutique hotel if the group is under six
Desert Hot Springs for the spa version
One good Saturday
Joshua Tree at sunrise, pool from eleven, chef dinner at eight, nobody leaves.
That is one anchored plan, not a schedule. Everything either side of it should be left open.
What it costs
$700–$1,150 per person for three nights, before travel.
That covers accommodation, food, drink and one or two paid activities. It does not cover getting there, which is the number that varies most and the one people forget to say out loud.
Split the fixed costs — the house, the one big booking — before anyone arrives. Splitting on the last morning is how group trips end badly.
When to go
Best months: Oct–May.
Outside those, expect either weather that changes the plan or prices that change the guest list. Neither is fatal, but both are worth knowing before you commit a date.
Before you book anything
We list these as suggestions, not as bookings, and we do not vet operators. Look up whoever actually runs an activity, read their own reviews rather than an aggregator's, and treat any booking that changes its location by text message as a reason to walk away.
